The Formentera Department of Social Welfare reports that social educator and family mediator Estela Berenguer will wrap up the lecture series ‘Xerrades per a famílies i docents’ (Talks for families and teachers) by unpacking the debate on punishments and rewards. “Recompenses i càstigs en polèmica” will air live on the Formentera es queda a casa Facebook page at 5.00pm on Thursday 21 May.
Thursday’s lecture concludes the nine-part series that began 10 October and which social welfare conseller Rafael Ramírez described as “a place to learn and share knowledge and experience with professionels about topics related to our children’s education”. “In the space of a year the number of lectures has jumped from five to nine, nearly doubling”, said Ramírez, who offered that, for the Formentera Department of Social Welfare, the aim of the initiative is “give families tools for tackling these issues”.
The FDSW-sponsored series received extra help from the island’s office of education, teachers’ resource centre and federation of parents.
