Presenting "Noves rondaies d'Eivissa i Formentera"

The Office of Culture of the Consell de Formentera is pleased to report that it has scheduled a presentation of the book Noves rondaies d'Eivissa i Formentera on Thursday 13 April at 7.30pm in Marià Villangómez Library. The event will be presented by author Lluís Ferrer Ferrer, illustrator Antonio Rodríguez Cano and Maite Ferrer.

This work showcases the oral tradition of the Pine Islands through a series of popular short stories marked by costumbrismo, humour, a slight moralizing touch and supernatural elements. Eivissa's go-to folklorist Joan Castelló Guasch (1911-1984) was the principal promoter of the preservation of these age-old legends, which he compiled in several volumes.  His latest literary adventure finds the acclaimed writer from Cala Mestella proffering a side-splitting assortment of folk tales.

As noted on the book's back cover: "Noves rondaies d'Eivissa i Formentera embodies the personal commitment of this pair of clueless individuals who, through no fault of anyone else, have embarked on the mad task of expanding and revitalising the popular literature of Eivissa and Formentera with previously unpublished stories".
