Today Ana Juan, president of the Consell de Formentera; Manuel Marín, president of the Red Cross of Eivissa and Formentera, and Rafael Ramírez, social welfare councillor, presented the organisation's first office on the island — a space provided by the island administration. Josep Marí, interior councillor, and Elena Cabrera, secretary of the Red Cross, attended the presentation as well.

As she handed over the keys to the office, President Juan voiced her "satisfaction at being able to offer a local space to the entity that performs fundamental humanitarian work with migrants and other volunteer services for islanders". The president applauded "work being carried out by the Office of Social Welfare to improve the provision of services on Formentera".

As Councillor Ramírez pointed out, "we have always worked in coordination with the Red Cross, which, besides assuring an online support service for the island, provides basic necessities for migrants arriving on Formentera's shores. With the organisation now physically present on the island, we will be able to improve support for the most vulnerable groups".

Manuel Marín praised the Consell for offering up the space and affirmed that "the facilities will mean the Red Cross can start its social and support work on the island; initially, offering humanitarian aid to people arriving on the coast, but with the aim of gradually implementing the rest of the organisation's own social programmes and projects, such as activities with the elderly, activities to empower vulnerable women and activities focused on children and young people". The organisation's hours on the island will be Tuesday and Thursday from 10.00am to 1.00pm.
